Common questions

Why are my dates different from the seed packet?

Seed packets give national ranges. Year Round Garden uses the 1991–2020 records of the weather station nearest you, so dates in Florida or Arizona can be very different from the packet. If the station seems far from you, choose another in My garden → Change location.

What does “frost safety” mean?

In areas with frost you can choose Cautious, Typical or Bold frost dates. Cautious uses the date that's later than the last spring frost 9 years in 10, Typical the middle, and Bold takes more risk for an earlier start.

How do I move my garden to a new phone?

In My garden → Settings (the gear) → Backup & export → Back up or restore, make a backup and save it to Files or iCloud Drive. On the new phone, install the app and restore that file. Photos come too.

How do I get weather alerts?

In My garden → Settings (the gear) → Weather alerts, turn on Weather alerts and allow notifications. You'll get a notification only when the National Weather Service issues a frost, heat, heavy rain, wind or storm warning for one of your gardens.

Can I use it in Spanish?

Yes. The app follows your phone's language, or choose English or Español in My garden → Settings → Language. Sí: la app sigue el idioma de tu teléfono, o elige Español en Mi huerto.

What does the subscription add, and how do I cancel or restore it?

Without a subscription you can keep 5 plants in your garden with reminders; planting dates, weather alerts, the journal and exports are always free. Unlimited lets you keep as many plants as you like. To cancel, open your App Store or Google Play subscriptions (on iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions). On a new phone, open My garden → Settings → Subscription → Restore purchases. If a subscription ends, nothing is deleted.
