What shapes the seasons here
Frost is rare in Honolulu: freezing nights come less than 1 year in 10. Here heat and summer rain set the planting seasons instead of frost, and fall through spring is the main vegetable season.
Summer nights average 75°F in August. Above about 75°F, tomatoes and peppers stop setting fruit, so the best tomato planting here is Sep 9–Mar 10, timed so plants fruit before or after the hottest weeks.
Honolulu gets about 21 inches of rain a year, most of it in March, November and December.
139 of the 174 crops in the app grow here; 35 need a different climate (listed near the bottom).

How these dates are worked out
Each crop has temperature limits and timing from university extension guides: how cold a night it can take, how much heat it can stand, how long it takes to mature, and how far before or after the last frost it goes in. Those are checked day by day against the Waikiki 717.2 station's NOAA 1991–2020 climate normals (average highs, lows, rain and frost dates). Dates are estimates for a typical year; a sheltered yard, a slope or a cold pocket can shift them by a week or two.
